Abstract

Work-life balance (WLB) has emerged as a defining concern in the modern workplace, particularly in professions demanding emotional investment, long working hours, and extended administrative duties. Among these, education stands out as a field where personal and professional boundaries often blur. This study investigates the challenges, determinants, and organizational strategies influencing work-life balance among college faculty in Guwahati, India. Drawing from a sample of sixty educators, data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through regression, ANOVA, and percentage analysis. Results reveal a significant relationship between employees’ job roles and their personal lives, alongside a positive association between WLB practices and performance. Findings emphasize that unsupportive organizational culture, workload intensity, and inadequate managerial support contribute substantially to imbalance. Conversely, flexible working hours, supportive supervisors, and institutional recognition foster improved well-being and productivity. The paper concludes with recommendations for policy redesign, cultural reform, and sustainable institutional practices that align with employee needs.
