- Abstract
This study investigates the strategies adopted by art management and art entrepreneurship students in India to successfully navigate the competitive art industry and seize emerging opportunities in the contemporary world. It reviews the contemporary visual art environment, encompassing art gallery initiatives, public and private museum projects, government and corporate art commissions, NGO-led activities, and heritage conservation efforts that provide learning and entrepreneurial opportunities for students and emerging professionals. This study employed a mixed-methods approach to explore the research objectives through surveys, structured and semi-structured interviews, case studies, and in-depth discussions with students and entrepreneurs. The study finds that a broad skill set-covering business knowledge, project management, marketing, and stakeholder engagement is crucial for success. It stresses the importance of staying updated on industry trends, building professional networks, and pursuing entrepreneurial opportunities such as start-ups. Additionally, the research underscores the significance of incorporating folk art and traditional forms into modern practices. The goal is to provide students, educators, and aspiring professionals with the insights and resources needed to develop a vibrant art management ecosystem, preparing them to meet the evolving demands of the sector.
