Abstract

The exploitative management of natural resources without regard to their sustainability has resulted in severe environmental degradation and has negatively affected the fulfillment of human needs and the overall quality of life. This condition stems from the anthropocentric paradigm that has long guided natural resource governance. Such a paradigm has demonstrably failed to ensure the sustainability of natural resource management, thereby necessitating a fundamental paradigmatic shift. In this regard, the Green Ecology paradigm offers a holistic and integrative approach to understanding the relationship between humans and the natural environment.Accordingly, the central problem analyzed in this study concerns how the Green Ecology paradigm can be internalized within the legal policies governing natural resource management. This research employs a normative juridical approach with a descriptive-analytical character. The data used are secondary in nature, derived from conceptual and statutory approaches. Data collection techniques were conducted through literature studies and interviews, while data analysis was performed qualitatively using juridical interpretation. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s legal policies on natural resource management remain primarily focused on economic interests and have yet to sufficiently consider environmental and social dimensions. The integration of the Green Ecology paradigm into the legal framework of natural resource management can thus serve as a key step toward achieving environmentally sustainable and ecologically conscious development.
