Abstract

The implementation of this research is very urgent and significant at this time, considering the many problems of forest burning that continue to occur in society which result in damage to life in the forest such as: animals in the forest, unstable climate, respiratory disorders that can cause death, and others. If forest prevention and restoration are not carried out, there will be even more severe environmental damage which can cause natural disasters that can at any time threaten the lives and social economy of the community. This study will use a mixed method, namely a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative approach involves a field survey to collect the views of lay people regarding steps in preventing and handling forest fires. The results of the study can be stated that: (1). Factors of opening agricultural land by burning (X1), land conflicts (X2), throwing cigarette butts carelessly (X3), the amount of flammable materials (X4), making lighting when fishing/hunting (X5), the presence of fire sources from other areas (X6) and visitor activities (tourists) (X7) have a significant effect on forest fires. The biggest factor causing forest fires is the large amount of flammable fuel (X4) and the lowest factor is land conflict (X2) and (2). The factors forming the Forest Fire Officer Unit (X1), making water reservoirs (X2), making fire breaks (X3), providing fire-prone warning signs (X4), making drilled wells (X5) and paying attention to burning/socialization times (X6) have a significant effect on efforts to combat forest fires. . The biggest factor in efforts to combat forest fires is providing fire-prone warning signs (X4), making drilled wells (X5) and the lowest is making fire breaks (X3).
