Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social support and academic stress among students in the Psychology Study Program at Universitas Prima Indonesia. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed, and the sample consisted of 251 students from semesters 1 to 7 selected through simple random sampling. The instruments used were a social support scale and an academic stress scale, both of which had previously undergone validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation through SPSS version 20. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between social support and academic stress (r = –0,208; p = 0 , 001 ), with an effective contribution of 4.3%. These findings demonstrate that higher levels of social support are associated with lower levels of academic stress among students.
