The proceedings of the First International Conference on Recent Innovation in Civil Engineering and Architecture for Sustainable Development (IICASD-2024), which was held during 7–9 November 2024, and was organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur, are presented with great honor. The main goal of this prestigious conference is to bring together top academic experts, researchers, and professionals from various civil engineering and architecture disciplines throughout the world to share knowledge, discuss innovative ideas, and investigate cutting-edge technical developments in the field.

According to the IIACSD-2024 Editorial Board, this conference is a vital link between academia and industry in addition to offering a great forum for participants from other nations to exchange and disseminate scientific and technical knowledge. The IICASD-2024 accepted papers, which cover a range of civil engineering and architectural specialties, are included in this proceeding. It mostly includes creative and useful contributions that tackle current issues in architecture and civil engineering, with an emphasis on how they are used in developing nations. Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering, Climate Change and Disaster Management, and Water and Environmental Management were all covered under the conference’s civil engineering theme. Architectural History and Theory, Urban Design and Planning, Housing and Settlement, and Comfort and Energy Efficiency in Building Design were the themes of the architecture course.

Notable success has been attained by the conference. Out of the 200 abstracts that were initially submitted, 157 abstracts were chosen to be presented as full papers. Following that, 142 complete articles were received and went through the peer review procedure. Among those, 112 papers were selected for presentation in the conference. Additionally, following the conference, 21 papers are nominated for publication in a prominent Springer book series following a double-blind evaluation of these articles. Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the hardworking members of the numerous committees whose efforts made this event a success. As we anticipate IICASD-2026, we are motivated by the conference series’ continued success.
