- Abstract
Integrating sensor-based smart environments on the Internet of Things can continuously monitor human daily activities and alert caregivers to early signs of cognitive decline or mobility issues. This chapter presents one such sensor the Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) sensors that are effective for indoor and outdoor health monitoring, accurately tracking movements and identifying health issues discreetly. They can track movements and identify health issues discreetly, making them preferable to wearable sensors and cameras. This Introduction chapter provides the emerging technologies that are assistive for human gait analysis monitoring for effective reasoning.
