Abstract

Against the backdrop of China’s 2025 rural revitalization and national digital-literacy initiatives, this study examines how Digital Innovation Literacy (DIL)—a second-order construct of Adolescent Innovation Literacy (AIL) and Innovation Capacity (IC)—shapes perceived social support (SS) among rural adolescent girls. Between January and March 2025, 769 questionnaires were distributed via Wenjuanxing and paper surveys; after cleaning, 765 valid responses (ages 16–24, 15 provinces) were analyzed. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the DIL model (AIL λ = .92; IC λ = .89; p < .001). Structural equation modeling revealed a strong positive effect of DIL on SS (β = .90, p < .001). Multi-group analysis showed that educational attainment significantly moderated this pathway (Δχ2 = 7.51, p < .01), with a stronger effect for those with high school education or below (β = .98) than for university-educated peers (β = .83). Findings highlight DIL’s compensatory role for less-educated youth and inform tailored Internet + Education strategies to foster equitable support networks.
