- Abstract
One of the environmental problems that is often in the spotlight today is the problem of waste. This waste problem also occurs in the port and ship environment which of course has an impact on disruption in the aspects of the environmental ecosystem, health and economy, especially the maritime environmental protection sector. One of the ports in Palembang City is PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) Palembang branch or better known as the Boom Baru Palembang Port which has a port area of 24 hectares also has problems related to increasing waste, in 2022 it produced 159,481 tons of waste and in 2023 it increased by 19.26%, namely 190,195 tons. However, the implementation of waste management at ports and ships in Palembang still experiences several obstacles such as the lack of a number of waste disposal sites at the port that are in accordance with the division of waste according to the 3R program (reduce, reuse, recycle) in several places at the port, one of which is the warehouse. Another obstacle is the lack of socialization of waste management carried out by both port cleaners and ships.
