Website: https://iwpospa2025.poltektranssdp-palembang.ac.i Praise and gratitude be to Almighty God for His blessings and guidance, which have enabled the successful organization of the International Workshop on Port, Shipping, Transportation, Technology and Environment (IWPOSPA Technology and Environment 2025) and the publication of these proceedings. IWPOSPA Technology and Environment 2025 provides an international forum for researchers, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, and students to share knowledge, present research findings, and exchange innovative ideas addressing current and future challenges in transportation, maritime affairs, technology development, and environmental sustainability. The conference theme, “Sustainable Innovation for Safety and Security of Ferries Transport Systems,” reflects the collective commitment of stakeholders to advancing safer, more secure, and sustainable ferry transportation systems through research, innovation, and collaboration. As the world's largest archipelagic country, Indonesia depends significantly on river, lake, and ferry transportation to connect communities, support economic activities, facilitate the movement of goods and passengers, and promote regional development. Ferry transportation serves as a critical component of national connectivity and plays a strategic role in strengthening social cohesion and supporting tourism and trade. Nevertheless, the sector continues to face challenges related to operational safety, security, infrastructure adequacy, environmental protection, and technological adaptation. Rapid technological advancements are transforming the transportation sector globally. Digitalization, artificial intelligence, smart monitoring systems, big data analytics, autonomous technologies, and clean-energy solutions are creating new opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service quality. At the same time, growing environmental concerns require transportation systems to adopt sustainable practices that reduce emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and contribute to global climate goals. These developments underline the importance of integrating technology and environmental considerations into the future of ferry transportation systems. The discussions and research contributions presented during IWPOSPA Technology and Environment 2025 focus on three interconnected pillars. The first is Safety, emphasizing the enhancement of operational standards, risk management, human factors, and accident prevention. The second is Security, addressing the development of resilient systems capable of responding to operational, technical, and emerging threats. The third is Sustainability, promoting environmentally responsible transportation through innovative technologies, efficient resource utilization, and low-carbon solutions. These proceedings compile selected papers presented at IWPOSPA Technology and Environment 2025, representing diverse perspectives and contributions from scholars and practitioners across various disciplines and countries. The collection highlights recent advancements in transportation systems, maritime operations, technological innovation, environmental management, and sustainable development. We hope that these proceedings will serve as a valuable scientific reference and inspire further research, collaboration, and innovation in the transportation sector. The Organizing Committee would like to express its sincere appreciation to the keynote speakers, invited experts, authors, reviewers, participants, and supporting institutions whose dedication and contributions have made IWPOSPA Technology and Environment 2025 a successful international event. We also extend our gratitude to the Human Resources Development Agency for Transportation (BPSDMP), the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, and Politeknik Transportasi Sungai, Danau, dan Penyeberangan (PTSDP) for their invaluable support and commitment to advancing transportation education, research, and professional development. We believe that the knowledge shared through IWPOSPA Technology and Environment 2025 will contribute significantly to the advancement of transportation technology, environmental sustainability, and ferry transport safety and security. Furthermore, we hope that this forum will strengthen international partnerships among universities, research institutions, industry stakeholders, and government agencies in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the future transportation ecosystem.
