- Abstract
Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Phonic Board (PB) is a digital-based Augmented Reality (AR) using phonic sound to access. Despite the widespread use of digital application aids, their impact on students’ language skills needs more exploration. The application design is created to ease students to shadow speaker’s pronunciation. The audio inside the design of PECS-PB uses QR Code. This study is aimed at evaluating thoroughly how PECS-PB affects English comprehension and production among students of Early Childhood. By phonics, students recognize letters, read words with syllables, construct sentences, and imitate the native English pronunciation heard from the application of PECS-PB using QR Code. The method used a qualitative-descriptive approach to illustrate the way of working of PECS-PB conducted by 15 students at TK Tarbiyatul Athfal Pengkol with one teacher as the guide. The advantage of learning English for early childhood is to enhance their cognitive skills, their creativity, and their capacity of brain. The theory used to analyze data utilized Miles and Huberman with three steps which involved observation, interview, and guidance text strategy. This study found that the application of PECS-PB has the benefit since the QR Code phonic sound attached to support picture and letters will ease students to learn.
