Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of teachers’ age and gender on their awareness of bullying in primary schools (SD/MI). The research adopts a quantitative descriptive approach and analysis of variance (ANOVA) to identify significant effects of these variables on teachers’ awareness of student bullying. The sample consists of 190 primary school teachers from Central Java, Indonesia, assessed using a specific instrument to measure their awareness of bullying behavior. Descriptive analysis indicates that female teachers have higher average awareness scores compared to male teachers across most age groups. The ANOVA results reveal that gender significantly affects teachers’ awareness of bullying (F=5.90, p=0.016, η2p=0.031), with p=0.016 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of Ho. The effect of age is not significant (F=1.43, p=0.235, η2p=0.023), with p=0.235 > 0.05, leading to the acceptance of Ho. The interaction between age and gender is also not significant (F=1.69, p=0.171, η2p=0.027). This study highlights the importance of considering demographic factors, particularly gender, in designing training programs to enhance teachers’ awareness of bullying. Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms influencing this awareness and to explore effective intervention strategies.
