- Abstract
This study aims to develop a dictionary of Indonesian for Foreign Speakers [BIPA] based on local wisdom inspired by various traditional rituals in Central Java. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with cultural practitioners, and documentation of traditional rituals such as Grebeg, Sekaten, Nyadran, and other traditional ceremonies. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify and classify the unique vocabulary used in the context of these rituals. The result is a list of vocabulary, including meaning, cultural usage, and relevant equivalents in foreign languages. The results of the field research found that this dictionary successfully serves as a BIPA learning resource, introducing not only Indonesian language but also Central Javanese cultural values, thus supporting more contextualized and meaningful language learning for foreign learners.
