- Abstract
Researchers have shown great interest in the role that cooperative learning plays in enhancing both academic outcomes and social skills among primary school students. However, in actual classroom environment, implementing cooperative learning still comes with several obstacles. For the purpose of this paper, based on study and classroom practice, this paper illustrates a critical summary of both the advantages and disadvantages of cooperative learning. The research discovers that if the cooperative learning designs meet the individual members and are supported by institutions and teachers, it can potentially contribute to higher student involvement and improved learning results. What’s more, the article also proposes some significant steps for maximizing cooperative learning, such as effective group formation, rotation of roles, formative evaluation, teacher professional development and integration in curriculum. These recommendations in order to ensure that cooperative learning is a sustainable and effective practice that is capable of meeting different learners and achieving long-term academic success.
