Abstract

Guided by the concept of ‘student-centred’ and ‘outcome-oriented’ in the accreditation of Chinese language teacher education majors, the development of Chinese language teacher’s core competencies has emerged as a key area of educational reform in Chinese teacher education programs. Aiming to improve the three core competencies (knowledge construction ability, literary appreciation ability, and reflective learning ability) of prospective Chinese language teachers, by incorporating the unique features of classical Chinese literature courses, this paper proposes a blended teaching model that merges online and offline teaching, inquiry-based learning, and the divided classroom methodology. The research and innovation covers various dimensions, including the architecture of the curriculum framework, curriculum content, teaching strategies, evaluation methods, and practical plans. The cultivation of core competencies in the Chinese language subject is seamlessly integrated throughout the entire teaching process, extending from pre-class preparation, through in-class engagement, to post-class reflection. In practice, this approach had yielded positive outcomes and holds substantial significance for advancing the development of Chinese language teacher education major and enhancing the quality of foundational education.
