Abstract

This study adopted stratified random sampling, selected 1426 adolescents from 30 middle schools in 4 cities including Beijing and Shanghai as samples, and used the Family Environment Scale (FES-CV) and the Youth Mental Health Scale (SCL-90) to explore the influence of family environment on adolescent mental health and the application of family system therapy. Descriptive statistics showed that 16.62% of adolescents had mental health problems, and the scores of depression and interpersonal relationship sensitivity factors were high; girls had significantly higher scores in depression (1.52±0.54) and anxiety (1.44±0.51) than boys (p<0.01), and the depression scores of adolescents from single-parent and reconstituted families (1.65±0.58 and 1.68±0.56, respectively) were significantly higher than those from nuclear families (1.40±0.50 points, p<0.001). Correlation analysis showed that family intimacy (r=-0.32, p<0.01), emotional expression and depression were significantly negatively correlated, and contradiction (r=0.35, p<0.01) was significantly positively correlated. The experiment showed that family system therapy significantly reduced the scores of depression and anxiety factors in the experimental group of adolescents. Studies have confirmed that the family environment significantly affects the mental health of adolescents, and family system therapy is an effective intervention method, which provides a scientific basis for promoting the mental health of adolescents.
