Abstract

Dance therapy is a treatment method that promotes mental health through artistic expression involving physical movement. This study deeply examines the mechanisms by which dance therapy contributes to mental health education among university students. It analyzes the positive role of nonverbal emotional expression and release in alleviating psychological stress, the effectiveness of bodily engagement in enhancing mind-body connection and self-awareness, and the significant value of mirroring effects in strengthening student empathy and social connection. Additionally, the paper explores practical implementation pathways for dance therapy in universities, including integration into mental health courses, organizing psychological counseling activities, and promoting campus culture. In response to challenges faced by universities in implementing dance therapy, such as faculty shortages, limited awareness, insufficient resources, and assessment difficulties, corresponding recommendations are proposed. This research provides theoretical support and practical guidance for the application and promotion of dance therapy, contributing to the enhancement of university students’ psychological well-being.
