- Abstract
With the acceleration of the internationalization process of higher education in China, the opening-up of higher education has entered into a new stage. Yet as more international students are enrolled by Chinese universities, issues concerning educational quality have become increasingly prominent, even sparking social controversies. This requires China to transform the international student education towards a more quality-oriented development. This paper first examines the main problems in educating international students in China, including the quality of student intake, teaching quality, and insufficient academic engagement among these students. It then proposes measures to enhance the educational quality for international students in China. These include expanding recruitment channels and raising admission standards; innovating teaching models and improving the level of teaching management and services; as well as refining scholarship systems and academic support mechanisms.
