- Abstract
With the rise of the concept of “inclusive city”, barrier-free and inclusive design in urban renewal have become increasingly important issues of spatial justice and social equity. However, existing research focuses on policy texts and technical standards, and rarely explores its actual effectiveness and potential structural problems. This study takes the disabled group as the research object, uses the social model of disability and the theory of symbolic inclusion as the analytical framework, systematically sorts out and critically analyses the inclusive design and barrier-free practices in current urban renewal projects, and focuses on the three dimensions of policy orientation, actual impact and economic burden. The study found that although barrier-free facilities are formally compliant in the planning text, there is a gap in usability, maintainability and affordability. This study emphasizes that true spatial justice should go beyond symbolic construction and turn to institutional inclusion with subject participation and structural reconstruction as the core.
