- Abstract
With the continuous development of society and the implementation of the Healthy China strategy, physical exercise has become one of the means to cultivate the physical and mental health of students, as well as improve their physical fitness and reduce psychological stress, controlling their emotions. However, in recent years, a phenomenon of “reduced physical activity after exercise” has been widespread among Chinese college students, which has significantly affected their mental health. This study, using questionnaires from Beijing Sport University and Jinan University as data sources for research on the effects of physical exercise on mental health, acknowledges the value of physical activities for college students and finds that exercise helps alleviate stress and regulate emotions. It suggests creating different types of student sports clubs, hold different kinds of sports health lectures, as well as reestablish the physical education curriculum to help college students improve healthy psychological development so as to provide theoretical foundations for educational practice in promoting sports-for-health initiatives.
