- Abstract
As women advance in societal development, they are afforded more power in making autonomous decisions. The present study was inspired by observing the growth of soft masculinity within society, prompting an exploration of the intricate interplay between social power dynamics and gender equality. The purpose of this analysis is to examine the influence of the female gaze on masculinity and its implications for gender equality, using the films Idol Producer (2018) and Shine! Super Brothers (2020) as illustrative examples. By exploring the intersection of the female gaze and consumer culture, we may get insights into the transformative potential of this perspective on traditional notions of masculinity and its broader societal ramifications. These two programmes exemplify the active engagement of women in the development and formation of masculinity within this. The emergence of a consumer society dominated by females has altered the demands and portrayals of masculinity. This phenomenon provides opportunities for gender expression, inspiration for shaping a diverse society, and new directions for gender equality topics.
