- Abstract
Green innovation not only serves as a critical engine for promoting high-quality development, but it also emphasizes the efficient allocation of resources through the use of new technologies and concepts, compared to traditional innovation. However, the research and development (R&D) and implementation of green innovation often require substantial financial support and extended development periods, making financing a significant barrier in its execution. The rise of financial technology (fintech) offers new possibilities for addressing this challenge. Based on panel data from 285 prefecture-level cities in China from 2011 to 2022, On the basis of the analysis of the theoretical relationship between the two, the level of fintech and green innovation in prefecture-level cities is measured, and the two-way fixed effect model is used to verify. The results indicate that the development of fintech not only directly enhances the level of regional green innovation but also improves it by alleviating financing constraints.
