Abstract

The digital age has reformed communication and information sharing by concealing the lines between public and private domains. Incest, traditionally means having sexual relations of any form with close relation. There are different types of incestuous relations including father-daughter, mother-son, sibling, grandparents and in-laws. It is proposed that in the digital age incest may be committed in the form of online communication, sharing of explicit content and even virtual or long-distance sexual interactions between prohibited relations. The increased easy accessibility of the internet and digital technologies can facilitate incest, as it is easy for individuals to feel more emboldened to engage in incestuous activities without the same social stigma or physical barriers. This research paper explores the intertwined relationship between privacy and incestuous relationships. The question for this research is how do online platforms and digital technologies contribute to the formation, maintenance or concealment of incest among prohibited degree? The main objective of this research is to highlight or point out the potential door of crime involving privacy and incest in the digital age.
