- Abstract
This study seeks to evaluate how planned behavior influences the intention of Batam residents to participate in medical tourism by obtaining healthcare services in Malaysia. Adopting a double regression model, the research explores the direct effects of independent variables on the dependent variable, which represents the intention to seek medical treatment in Malaysia. The sample for this study consists of residents of Batam City who have expressed plans or intentions to engage in medical tourism, specifically by traveling to Malaysia for healthcare purposes. The research utilizes primary data, which is directly gathered from the target participants through a structured questionnaire. Designed to capture relevant insights into respondents’ medical tourism intentions, the questionnaire is distributed online using Google Forms to ensure ease of access and completion. The study’s findings indicate that while perceived barriers have a negative yet statistically insignificant effect on visit intention, factors such as behavioral beliefs, normative beliefs, control beliefs, attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and trust exhibit a significant and positive influence on Batam residents’ intention to seek medical treatment in Malaysia.
