Abstract

Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) emphasizes the need for inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all by 2030, acknowledging education as a vital human right and a central driver of societal development. While progress has been made in increasing access to education, millions of children globally still face barriers such as economic disparity, geographic location, gender, and disabilities. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated these challenges, disrupting education for over 1.6 billion children. In response, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has emerged as a promising solution to address issues of accessibility, quality, and inclusivity. However, despite growing interest, there is limited research on the direct impact of AI in achieving the SDG 4 targets. This study seeks to critically examine the potential of AI tools in education, specifically focusing on their role in enhancing educational accessibility, quality, and inclusivity. By exploring the opportunities and challenges associated with AI in diverse educational contexts, this study aims to assess how AI technologies can contribute to improving learning outcomes, engagement, and equity. The study will also investigate the readiness of educational institutions to implement AI and address the digital divide. Ultimately, the research aims to provide actionable recommendations for policymakers, educators, and technology developers to ensure AI's effective and equitable integration into educational systems, aligning with the broader objectives of SDG 4.
