- Abstract
The “VR Vidya – Virtual Science Lab” project presents a 3D virtual reality lab that can be accessed using VR headsets. The platform’s 3D models and interactive programming were created using Autodesk Maya. For numerous experiments conducted at the school level, it provides accurate simulations. Osmosis in raisins for biology, burning a magnesium ribbon and heating copper sulfate for chemistry, and refraction through a prism for physics are a few examples. VR Vidya supports learning in groups as well as alone. Multiple persons can use the same virtual environment at once. Learning thus becomes more dynamic and engaging. The system works with a wide range of systems, including Linux, PlayStation 4, WebGL, macOS, iOS, Android, Windows phones, and Apple TV. The main objective of the project is to use an easily available online platform to improve practical scientific education. Educational establishments including schools, colleges, and universities are the primary beneficiaries.
