Abstract

This article aims to find out the results and explanation of the application of the transportation cadet parenting program model with an experiential learning approach. This experiential learning approach builds character values such as devotion, honesty, discipline, exemplary, responsibility, compassion, care, communication, initiative, and interpersonal relationships. The research method used qualitative research with descriptive methods. The research was conducted at the Indonesian Land Transportation Polytechnic STTD Bekasi on Level II cadets in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. Participants in this study were determined by purposive sampling as many as 24 cadets who had high, medium, and low Final Grade Point Average (GPA) criteria representing each study program. Based on direct observations in the field and interviews with cadets, it can be concluded that the application of the experiential learning-based parenting program model provides good results. The application of the parenting program model with an experiential learning approach based on the steps of Kolb’s experiential learning cycle provides positive changes and a good impact in building the character of cadets because the results show an increase in the development of character values such as devotion, discipline, responsibility, communication, initiative, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, cadets understand and understand the meaning of each parenting activity, and are more motivated and disciplined in carrying out parenting activities, and the character values that have been built begin to be well internalized in everyday life as the identity of transportation cadets with character.
