Abstract

Institutions of higher learning are increasingly tasked with preparing students for a complex and interconnected world. To produce graduates who are prepared for the future, this article examines the critical role that technology plays in forming global perspectives within these institutions. The introduction and background situate the study within the broader context of globalisation, digital transformation, and the emerging demands on graduates to engage effectively across cultural and geographic boundaries. The article is a review paper which explores how technology might facilitate cross-cultural communication and cooperative learning opportunities by overcoming geographic restrictions. This covers online collaboration projects, virtual exchange programs and access to a variety of digital resources. The methodology was conceptual and integrative, involving a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature and institutional reports published between 2020 and 2025, focusing on technology-mediated learning, cross-cultural collaboration, and curriculum design for global education. The review article also explored how technology enables personalised learning, embracing global content while accommodating different learning demands and styles. It also discussed the difficulties in providing equal access to technology and the significance of designing online learning environments with cultural sensitivity. This article emphasized how technology may foster intercultural competency, global citizenship and a greater awareness of other viewpoints. Ultimately, the article contributed to the academic community by highlighting the necessity of making strategic investments in technology infrastructure, training instructors in higher education institutions, and developing curricula to effectively use technology for global learning in higher education institutions.
