Building upon the success of its inaugural edition, the conference once again served as a vital interdisciplinary forum for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers engaged in the evolving discourse on urban development. With more than 50 participants representing academic institutions, industry sectors, and governmental bodies, UPD 2025 facilitated meaningful exchange on both theoretical advancements and applied practices shaping contemporary urban environments. From over 58 submissions, 21 papers were selected through a rigorous peer-review process for presentation and inclusion in the proceedings, underscoring the conference’s continued commitment to scholarly quality and relevance to the complex realities of urban planning. The academic program reflected the multifaceted nature of urban inquiry, weaving together discussions on smart city technologies, transportation infrastructure, housing markets, environmental sustainability, urban resilience, and disaster preparedness. Contributions further examined the intersections of artificial intelligence, big data, and participatory design, with an emphasis on how such tools and approaches can inform spatial decision-making, promote inclusive growth, and enhance climate-adaptive strategies across diverse urban contexts. A key feature of the conference was the keynote session, which brought together four distinguished experts whose research offers valuable perspectives on the challenges and transformations facing cities today. Their presentations collectively addressed the integration of intelligent transportation systems and V2X communication technologies in urban mobility planning, the assessment of urban street design guidelines under the paradigm of Complete Streets, public sentiment toward AI-driven urban development across regional settings, and the policy dimensions of new town initiatives aimed at fostering climate-resilient, equitable growth. These contributions provided a global lens through which to examine localized planning strategies, enriching the collective understanding of sustainable urban futures.
