- Abstract
This study explores the intersection of policing, environmental justice, and governance in coastal and island regions through a bibliometric approach. By analyzing 413 publications indexed in Scopus between 1971 and 2025 using the R-based Biblioshiny application, the research maps the intellectual structure, thematic evolution, and collaboration networks within this emerging interdisciplinary field. The findings reveal a steady growth of scholarly contributions, particularly in the last decade, reflecting the increasing global salience of climate change, marine protection, and social equity. Law enforcement emerges as a central theme that bridges environmental governance and justice concerns, while the fragmentation of research across criminology, environmental studies, and maritime security underscores the need for greater integration. Influential works, authors, and journals are identified, alongside evolving thematic clusters that highlight the shift from ecological conservation toward institutional and enforcement-oriented approaches. This study contributes to consolidating an interdisciplinary knowledge base, offering insights for policymakers, practitioners, and scholars seeking to strengthen the role of policing in promoting sustainable and equitable governance in vulnerable coastal and island regions.
