Abstract

This study analyzes the role and implementation of duties by the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) of Mamuju Tengah Regency in organizing population data following the regional division under Law No. 4 of 2013. The formation of the new regency resulted in administrative issues where many residents still retain Identification Cards (KTP) from the parent regency (Mamuju Regency), which compromises the validity of aggregate population data and hinders the effectiveness of public services and development planning. Utilizing a qualitative method with a case study approach, the research collected data through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including Disdukcapil’s Population Registration Services Division and Information Management Division, as well as representatives from district apparatus and the community. The analysis specifically focuses on Disdukcapil’s functions regarding population registration services and the management of population administration information to achieve orderly and accurate population data, which is essential for good governance and effective development in Mamuju Tengah. The findings are expected to underscore the importance of accurate data administration as a foundational element of effective local governance post-regional division. Keywords: Data Administration, Population Data, Role of Disdukcapil, Regional Division, Governance, Central Mamuju.
