Abstract

This article analysis the international cooperation between PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) and the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC), focusing on strengthening maritime education and enhancing the competence of Indonesian seafarers. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the integration of international standards into maritime curricula, training programs, and certification schemes aimed at improving technical proficiency, safety awareness, and leadership capacity. As the first Indonesian company to join IMEC, PIS has gained a strategic position that broadens Indonesian seafarers’ access to global networks and enhances their competitiveness in the international shipping industry. The results shows that this cooperation significantly contributes to advancing the professionalism and preparedness of Indonesian seafarers in facing global challenges, while underscoring maritime education as a key foundation for developing high-quality and globally competitive maritime human resources.
