- Abstract
This study examines the role of local wisdom in fisheries resource management, in Mamuju Regency, focusing on how traditional fishermen’s values and practices can contribute to marine ecosystem conservation. The main issue explored is how local wisdom can be integrated with modern technology to create a sustainable fisheries management system. The research method used was a qualitative approach with case studies, using data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and participatory observation of local fishermen. The main findings shows that despite changes in traditional practices due to digital technology, most fishermen in Mamuju still rely on local wisdom such as rituals of gratitude, the use of environmentally friendly fishing gear, and understanding of natural signs to maintain the sustainability of the marine ecosystem. The study also found that the application of technology such as digital weather applications can strengthen but not replace local wisdom in fisheries management. The significance of these findings is to demonstrate the importance of collaboration between traditional knowledge and technology in maintaining the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems. These findings provide basis for formulating more inclusive policies in fisheries resource management that involve local communities and sustainable technology adaptation.
