- Abstract
This study developed and validated an affective domain instrument to assess pre-service non-technical teachers’ dispositions toward the teaching profession at UNIMED’s Faculty of Engineering. The instrument measured three core constructs—opinions, beliefs, and assessments of worth—across five hierarchical affective levels. Using data from 247 students, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation tests, and reliability analyses demonstrated strong psychometric properties: 19 valid items for opinions, 21 for beliefs, and 20 for value assessments, with reliability coefficients (CR = 0.94–0.96; α = 0.80–0.83) exceeding accepted standards. The findings show that affective dispositions can be systematically assessed, and the validated instrument offers a practical diagnostic tool to support professional identity development among pre-service teachers.
