Welcome to the Proceedings of the 1st International Symposium on African Sustainable Energy Solutions (AfrSusEnS 2024). AfrSusEnS provided a rich forum for exploring prac tical and scalable solutions. Discussions spanned a diverse range of topics, including alternative/green fuel and chemical production, electroprocesses for energy conversions, CO2 capture, storage, and utilization, hydrogen energy, energy storage, biomass/waste to energy, as well as current energy projects in Africa. Beyond fostering rigorous research, the symposium reaffirmed Africa’s ability to lead the global energy transition on its own terms and in alignment with its unique developmental aspirations.
