Abstract

The digitalization of higher education libraries has long been a hot topic in the development of Higher Education, especially now when we have entered the post-pandemic age -- an era where technology constantly develops at breathtaking speed. Medical libraries in North India affiliated with higher education institutions (HEIs) are, therefore, overwhelmed by the demand for digital resources from students, researchers, and faculty members. This research is based on a conceptual study to consider the deployment of AI in the context of e-resource services and as a strategic initiative for fulfilling such demands under Education 4.0 principles. It proposes a multi-faceted AI-integrated model with five key components: AI-powered discovery-and-access systems, smart resource utilization mechanisms, patient-facing interfaces that are interactive, adaptive training and feedback systems, and strong monitoring and- evaluation (M&E) dashboards [1].

The research identifies primary AI technologies, including natural language processing (NLP), machine learning algorithms, chat bots, OCR technologies, recommender systems, and AI-based summarization tools, as the main factors that make library spaces smart. The research model is not just about how AI can enhance operations. It also considers the institutional, infrastructural, ethical, and cultural issues that medical libraries in North Indian HEIs may encounter. Lack of sufficient digital infrastructure, privacy concerns related to data, algorithmic bias, low policy promotion, and staff with limited skills is among these issues [2].

This article contributes to the existing knowledge base in several ways: Firstly, it creates a conceptual framework for the morally responsible, environmentally friendly, and socially fair use of AI in the academic medical library environment. Moreover, the paper provides a wide range of strategies to decision-makers, librarians, technology experts, and researchers to facilitate a concerted approach in the areas of intelligent automation, user-centered engagement, and digital literacy. By connecting the theoretical framework with the practical side of the innovative implementation, this study is aimed to be a resource for fieldwork and pilot programs on AI-powered library services in medical education in India [3].
