Abstract

Religious diversity, often perceived as an obstacle to social cohesion and cooperation, can actually be a valuable asset in promoting sustainable development. The digital age provides opportunities to enhance understanding and collaboration among different religious communities, which is crucial for achieving various development goals such as peace, justice, education, gender equality, and sustainable urban development. By aligning and collaborating, religious traditions can contribute to inclusive and sustainable development. This study investigates the role of religious diversity in fostering harmony and synergy for sustainable development. Utilizing a quantitative approach, the research involved 218 participants to examine the relationship between digital platform usage and interreligious harmony. The results show a strong correlation between these variables, indicating that digital platforms can facilitate mutual understanding, reduce stereotypes, and promote cooperation among people of different faiths. By enhancing communication and collaboration among religious communities through digital channels, we can strengthen tolerance, mutual understanding, and joint efforts towards sustainable development. This highlights the potential of managing religious diversity as a valuable social asset in tackling global challenges and achieving sustainable development goals. This article provides insights into using digital technology to facilitate constructive interfaith dialogue and offers recommendations for policymakers, religious entities, and individuals on leveraging religious diversity as a means of developing effective communication strategies that promote innovation and harmony in sustainable development initiatives.
