- Abstract
Willingness to pay (WTP) for the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is an important indicator of public acceptance and affordability related to cervical cancer prevention efforts. This systematic review aimed to examine the range of WTP values and explore the associated determinants of WTP for the HPV vaccine in Asian countries. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink was conducted for studies published between 2015 and 2024, following PRISMA guidelines. Quality assessment of the included studies was performed using the Joanna Briggs Institute checklist. Seventeen cross-sectional studies from eight Asian countries (China, Vietnam, Iran, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, and Thailand) were included, involving 30,159 respondents, primarily female. The reported WTP values varied significantly, ranging from USD 9.71 to USD 790.20, and represented 0.21% to 10.49% of GDP per capita across countries. Most of the reported WTP values remained below the actual market price of the HPV vaccine. Determinants influencing WTP were classified into personal factors, behavioral factors, and environmental factors. Tailored policy interventions and education strategies that address these factors are recommended to enhance vaccine accessibility and uptake across Asia.
