- Abstract
Shitan Town is one of the areas in Guangzhou with many watchtowers. However, existing studies have never paid attention to the Zengcheng area in the eastern part of Guangzhou and have not focused on the Shitan Watchtower. They have also overlooked the particularity and importance of its location adjacent to the Guangfu and Hakka cultures, as well as the Guangzhou style and ancient Baoan style watchtower. This paper analyzes and discusses the distribution characteristics and spatial features of the Shitan Watchtower from macro, meso, and micro scales, using methods such as kernel density analysis. It concludes that the spatial distribution pattern of the Shitan Watchtower is the result of the joint action of many factors, such as nature, society, economy, and clan. This provides certain references for the research on the watchtower in Guangzhou.
