- Abstract
Business competitiveness represents a fundamental factor for the permanence and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in dynamic and highly competitive environments. In the pharmaceutical sector, SME pharmacies face challenges related to technological innovation, digital transformation, operational efficiency, and access to financing. The objective of this research was to analyze the competitiveness of SME pharmacies in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, through the dimensions of innovation, production management, economic-financial management, commercial management, and organization management. The research was conducted under a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and descriptive scope. The sample consisted of 93 SME pharmacies selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Data were collected during October 2025 using a structured questionnaire of 56 items measured on a five-point Likert scale. The reliability of the instrument was assessed using McDonald’s Omega coefficient, yielding values between 0.829 and 0.906. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with IBM SPSS Statistics software. The results showed that commercial management presented the highest level of competitiveness (M = 4.21; SD = 0.53), followed by organizational management (M = 4.06; SD = 0.58) and production management (M = 3.90; SD = 0.57). In contrast, innovation (M = 3.81; SD = 0.64) and economic-financial management (M = 3.76; SD = 0.69) showed moderate levels. It is concluded that SME pharmacies possess operational and commercial strengths; however, they need to strengthen innovation, digitalization, and financial planning to increase their sustainable competitiveness.
