Abstract

The increase in the number of Japanese language college entrance examination candidates reflects the continuously rising demand for Japanese language education in China. However, higher Japanese language education in China still faces many problems. Several universities have revoked foreign language-related majors, which has sparked reflection on whether Japanese majors are lagging behind the times and whether they should keep up with the times. This article explores the necessity, current situation, and improvement measures of modernizing Japanese language education in China. It found out that during class the Japanese textbooks currently used in Chinese universities are outdated and incorrect. In addition, there are obvious shortcomings in the materials of Japanese listening teaching courses, which often focus on the teaching of phonetics and language knowledge, neglecting the timeliness and modernity of listening materials. There is a phenomenon of solidification in the teaching staff, and teaching concepts and methods are relatively outdated. Japanese language teaching equipment is also relatively outdated. This article puts forward suggestions on the problems existing in Japanese language education, promoting Japanese language education, timely updating and revising textbooks, introducing new teachers, improving teacher quality, upgrading teaching equipment, promoting the modernization of Japanese language education in China to meet the demand for Japanese language talents in society.
