- Abstract
Dark matter, though undetectable through direct observation, has gained broad acceptance as the key component determining galaxy dynamics, large-scale cosmic structure formation, and anisotropy in cosmic microwave background radiation through gravitational effects. However, its fundamental nature remains enigmatic, with no breakthroughs achieved in direct detection experiments. Meanwhile, modified gravity theories-which reinterpret galactic rotation curves and the Tully-Fisher relationship by revising Newtonian/Einsteinian gravitational laws in low-acceleration regions-have emerged as compelling alternatives to dark matter. These theories fundamentally differ in their approaches: dark matter relies on hypothetical particles, while modified gravity challenges established gravitational frameworks. This contradiction has driven interdisciplinary research, seeking to resolve the mystery of missing cosmic mass through observational breakthroughs, experimental advancements, and theoretical innovations.
