- Abstract
This study examined university students’ social responsibility awareness and their behavioral intentions using a self-developed questionnaire. A sample of 841 undergraduates (617 students (73.4%) from the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, 112 (13.3%) from Hong Kong, and 112 (13.3%) from Macao) from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China, was surveyed during the fall semester of 2024. The research instrument was validated for reliability and construct validity through confirmatory factor analysis. The study found significant differences in students’ behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement in social responsibility based on their university location, with behavioral engagement and behavioral intention showing partial significance. The results can offer empirical insights for assessing social responsibility awareness among university students in the Greater Bay Area, serving as a foundation for refining education policies and enhancing students’ social responsibility engagement.
