Su embroidery, known as Suxiu, is the general name for embroidery products in Suzhou. It is a traditional folk art in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. It is one of the four famous embroideries and one of the national intangible cultural heritages. This research focuses on embroidery in Zhenhu, Suzhou, exploring how Zhenhu embroidery women express their gender identity, and identities through Suzhou embroidery, as well as the way of Suzhou embroidery inheritance. Participatory observation and semi-structured interviews were the main methods of data collection, supplemented by comprehensive data collection instruments such as documentary analysis methods. There are three main findings: the femineity re-domestication of embroidery by Xiuniang, self-worth achievement by embroidery, the opportunities and challenges of Suzhou embroidery inheritance from inheritors, innovation, and market aspects.
