Abstract

The global aerospace industry has gone through the state-owned activities to become a vibrant commercial sector that is driven by individual resourcefulness and economic forces. In this analysis, the growth of SpaceX was followed through a tri-partite approach: the Government-Backed Endurance (2002–2012), Strengthened Operations (2013–2019) and Self-Reinforcing Network-Driven Independence (2020-present). At the early phase, NASA contracts provided consistent revenue, which assisted SpaceX to survive its formative years, invest in reusable rocket technology. It has led to technological innovation during the middle period, as rampant missions and the capability to control the full supply chain would transform concepts into effective methods, topped in 2019 with the first satellites of Starlink. A closed-loop system is now flourishing, as Starlink continues to charge users to continue satellite operation, flights, and research and reduce reliance on infrequent deals. In the case of Starlink, interesting results are the percentage of income ascending to between 47 and 69 percent. This article highlights how state aid has been the catalyst to resourceful steps, connection building, and financial independence, which have provided insights to others in private space activities and how this creation will lead to sustained growth in orbital markets.
