Abstract

This conceptual study is attempting to explore the phenomenon of reconnecting people and politics in the current political movement of people power politics and putting people first in democratic political governance. In answering the paper’s research questions, this paper focused on the democratic political governance and political disengagement and disconnect as the basis for the articulation and contextualisation of the issue of reconnecting agenda. The paper discussed on the enabling environment for such reconnecting in the field of democratic political reform, giving political power back to people, the role of political leadership in democratic political governance, and interactive political governance. In this exploratory analysis, interactive political leadership model within its political platforms and arenas is seen as the mover of the reconnecting people and politics agenda. This paper recommended to move along the dictates of what people demands are on how should the democratic political governance be steered as a collective and collaborative endeavour in the societal lives.
