- Abstract
In recent years, ASEAN has put its focus on developing the digital economy in the region. Google, Temasek and Bain & Company The digital economy in six SEA countries which are Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam is estimated to deliver about US$100 billion in revenue for the year of 2023. While ASEAN has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen the sector, the regional organisation still faced several challenges in conducting general economy. Through qualitative research approach, this study assess the growth of digital economy in the region and identifies the challenges ASEAN faced. The preliminary result found that the challenges such as diversity in three aspects namely readiness of digital integration; existing commitments as well as digital governance approaches. Through this examination, the study aims to provide insights into the necessary steps to overcome these challenges.
