- Abstract
Students from low-income backgrounds often face challenges in developing writing skills due to limited access to learning resources. This study aimed to examine the effects of a Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) on the cognitive function and writing fluency of two low-income students. This qualitative case study involved a 16-session MLE intervention, with data collected through writing tests, interviews, and document analysis. Results indicated improvements in writing planning, audience adaptation, and feedback utilization, as well as metacognitive enhancement through the mediation of intentionality, reciprocity, meaning, transcendence, and competence. These findings affirm the role of MLE as an inclusive approach, with recommendations for further research using more diverse samples.
