Student Perceptions of the Use of ChatGPT and the Implications for Education Management Policy at the Institut Agama Kristen Negeri Palangka Raya

Abstract

The study aims to determine student perceptions of the use of ChatGPT and implications for educational management policies at the Institut Agama Kristen Negeri Palangka Raya (IAKN Palangka Raya). The research method used in this research is quantitative method. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative, where the population is all IAKN Palangka Raya students and the sample is determined by chance for anyone who has used ChatGPT. The data collection technique was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires online in Google Form. Based on the normality test and descriptive statistical tests that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the distribution of student perception data can be considered normal as evidenced by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test is 0.200 and Shapiro-Wilk, both of which produce a Sig value. > 0,05. Meanwhile, student perceptions of the use of ChatGPT tend to be positive and consistent with an average value of 38.56 and a standard deviation of 4.185. In addition, from the results of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) analysis, it is also known that the use of ChatGPT gets a positive perception from students where the analysis results obtained Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) of 74.74%, Perceived Usefulness (PU) of 67.83%, Intention to Use (IU) of 68.26%, and Usage Behavior (UB) of 78.49%. The implications for education management policies at IAKN Palangka Raya are 1) infrastructure policies related to facilities and information technology in learning, 2) ChatGPT usage standards in learning, 3) academic guidelines on curriculum, evaluation and assessment of student learning outcomes, and 4) human resource development in managing learning in the digital era.
