- Abstract
This study analyzes the role of interfaith women in the rattan craftsmen community in Central Kalimantan. Women’s involvement as rattan craftsmen provides opportunities for women’s existence in the public sphere. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. This research was conducted in Central Kalimantan. The results showed that rattan is a type of forest plant that has become a source of life for the Dayak people in Central Kalimantan. Rattan management is carried out by Dayak women with religious diversity as a preservation process through rattan weaving activities. Women carry out the weaving process with the encouragement of feminist traits that form resilience, tenacity, perseverance and skills based on the heart. Women as rattan craftsmen play a role by referring to several things, namely the preservation and inheritance of Dayak culture; management and preservation of nature; supporting family needs; and maintaining peace in the context of a pluralistic society.
